The Education Act requires all tertiary education institutions to have a Charter. CPIT's first Charter was approved in 1991 and was revised in 1998. The Education Act was amended in 2002 and all tertiary education institutions were required to draft new Charters. CPIT's new Charter has been approved by the Associate Minister of Education, the Hon Steve Maharey, for the period 1 January 2004 to 31 December 2008. The Charter includes CPIT's Vision, Mission, Values, and Strategic Goals.
